Nicola Burns’ Journey Into Biohazard & Specialist Cleaning

Biohazard Cleaning

One of the most rewarding parts of what I do is watching cleaning business owners step into their potential and Nicola Burns is a perfect example of that.

When we first met, Nicola had already completed biohazard training elsewhere. She wasn’t starting from scratch. But she knew, deep down, that there were still gaps.

Gaps in knowledge and her confidence. She was also unsure how to turn those skills into a profitable, well-positioned business.

Like so many in our industry, she was working hard but felt stuck. Stuck in lower-paid cleaning work, with no clear direction on how to move into something more specialised, more rewarding, and more financially sustainable.

But Nicola wanted more.

More interesting work a better income and a stronger reputation. A business she could be proud of. So she made a big decision!

Less than six months ago, she invested in our biohazard training programme and travelled nearly 600 miles with her team to attend.

That alone tells you everything you need to know about her mindset.

But what really impressed me was what she did next. She didn’t just attend the training and go back to business as usual. She took what she learned and completely revamped her business.

She then came back for an implementation day to focus on how to launch properly, win clients, position her services, and build her reputation in the specialist cleaning space.

And the results?

In just six months, everything has changed.

Nicola is now securing a biohazard contract every single week.

Her team are fully upskilled and genuinely enjoying the work they’re doing. There’s a real sense of purpose in what they deliver, especially when supporting clients in their community who need critical cleaning services.

And just this week, she completed her largest and most valuable hoarder biohazard clean to date.

But for me, I feel incredibly proud of Nicola.

She has stepped into a true CEO role within her business.

She is no longer just running jobs. She is leading, making strategic decisions, and shaping the direction of her company with confidence. That transformation is what I care about most. This is what happens when you approach business with enthusiasm and seek out the support to bring your vision to fruition.

And if you haven’t already, I’d really encourage you to watch the LinkedIn Live Nicola and I recorded this week. Hearing her talk through the journey in her own words, what she was feeling before, what she changed, and what’s happened since, brings this transformation to life in a way a written post never quite can.

It shows exactly what’s possible when you back yourself and take action.
